Oasis, Secret, and Phala stand out as early successful innovations in the field of permissionless confidential computing. Each of them has made suggestions that in the future they would be able to support other enclave projects in their distributed network. Judging by the inactivity on proposals and the amount of incomplete code they have relating to this it seems unlikely that this will come anytime soon. Hardware diversity was not their primary directive so we can extend a pass to them. Nevertheless the shortcomings of being locked in to one hardware vendor will become apparent given enough time. In the future, Shuttle will be able to seize the market on each new innovation brought to TEE’s.

Our market potential will be reached when people realise we are solving for the main criticisms of the underlying technology, bringing a long term vision to blockchain by tackling a key fundamental challenge limiting the scale of enclave adoption in a permissionless environment.

The security of a multi-billion dollar network cannot be placed at the behest of a single manufacturer to depend on, exert control, or themselves introduce security flaws.
