What is Privacy? Anonymity vs. Confidentiality
It's important to distinguish between two key concepts: anonymity and confidentiality. Anonymity refers to concealing the identity of the transaction originator, while confidentiality involves protecting the financial details of each transaction. Lest one wishes to suffer the slow taming death of MimbleWimble or become the subject of a crack hack festivity from regulated entities(Monero), confidentiality is the best of what we should aim to achieve.
To get confidentiality we need to give separation to the identity from the financial details of the transaction. We want to know who is transacting but not what they are doing.
